26th. February 2015
Not much has been happening down the Lane over the past two weeks, seems it’s 3 days wet, 2 days dull and one day dry, certainly diverse!
I have however finally sown some Broad Beans in the Greenhouse. My digging adventures have stopped about three meters away, I look at the ground and just say “tomorrow”.
This has been the pattern for about four weeks now!
Poor thing, the only brown one amongst about 100 in a field on the Romney Marshes!
I have had a couple of days out and about though; one day at Dungeness RSPB – Got what I thought were some good photos only to find my sd card had corrupted itself after about 4 shots. It was a sunny day and nice to get out though.
The photos of a flying Kestral and close up shot of a Cormorant will have to wait until next time!
It’s nice to see that after considerable work with varying feed in the front garden bird feeders, the Long Tail Tits are now appearing more often.
Problem is the Squirrel and occasional Rat seem to like all the variation they’re getting as well.
On the Web Site
I’ve just had the Forum software up-dated to the latest version, so the odd gremlin a few were experiencing should now be fixed.
The Forum’s very quiet at present and I’d imagine, by speaking with other Web Site Owners, this mainly due to a lessening of interest in keeping Chickens in the Garden.
Everything comes and goes. Not long ago you couldn’t pick up a weekend Paper without an article about it, now it’s more about food and property.
I guess it may be there is a slightly better feelgood factor around now, so self sufficiency and more self reliance has taken a bit of a back burner.
What goes round comes round, but not such good news for Battery Hens hoping for a chance of freedom.

I’ve very nearly completed the work on transforming the Site for Mobile Phone. The ads say “get going in only 5 minutes”. Well, this is true, the web site does come up on mobile phone in that time but not necessarily in the right order!
This means going through virtually every page and editing.
There are around 1,300 article pages. Oh dear!
I’m also working on ‘Wildlife outside of the Garden’, mainly photos of anything found more in fields, wetland and coast.
About 8 pages done and another 10 to do. Adding more as more is seen.
A Holiday in store!
I have just sorted out an 11 day adventure in Scotland centred around wildlife and scenery.
Three days on the Isle of Skye, four days on Loch Maree, three days in Bettyhill then following my 2011 Bike ride route back to Glasgow staying at Glencoe for three nights.
I’m going by Train to Glasgow (I don’t pay being an ex Railway employee) then hiring out a car there.
I was going to rough it, then I thought, no. Not altogether posh but staying in some nice Guest Houses / Hotels.
The Hotel on Loch Maree (see here) was once used by Queen Victoria and last year Billy Connolly, Annette Crosby and David Tennant filmed there.
This year it’s me, yet another giant Celeb to add to their list !!!!
Mr. Mallards being a bit greedy with two Girlfriends!
My main ‘look out fors’ are Whales, Dolphins, Puffins and Eagles. Have to say I’m quite excited. There again, everyone should be excited about any holiday.
Next week I’m off to Southampton for five days. I haven’t been down there since Christmas, I hope the family still remember me!
Then a couple of nights at my Brother’s Flat in Sevenoaks whilst he’s away. I’m on waiting for new furniture to arrive duty!
All in all, it feels that things are about to start up both Garden and social wise. Winter hibernation is nearly through and I’m ready to rock and roll.
Well sort of!
