The Zimmers

Just when you’re starting to lose all hope of this world, as always something come’s along to bring a smile and even a tear. This is certainly the case with the recently released single ‘My Generation’ by the Zimmers.

A band whose ages add up to 3,000 years (yes, even more than the Rolling Stones as Graham Norton said), are touching the hearts of millions.

Why? I guess it’s the obvious fun they are having recording it and all the ‘celeb’ bit following on - and why not! These men and women could say ‘farewell’ tomorrow, but boy, if that’s so, what a dream finale. The ironic thing is, so could any of us - so why not have a good time, laugh and sing.

The odd thing is that the main singer, at 91, was in his late forties when the original came out by ‘The Who’. The classic lyric “Hope I die before I get old” was then sung by Roger Daltry who now is mainly a tweed jacket person living on a farm. The Who are touring GB at present and I’d love to hear the chat from Daltry after the performance!

Let this be a learning point to us all. If we’re over 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or even a 100 (the chap sticking his finger up!) - it just doesn’t matter. We may have aches, pains and parts of us which don’t do the things they used to do.

But we have mouths which produce sounds and smiles at any age!

Rock on……
