Eglu cube hen house bargain

We have recently discussed adding a few hens back in to the mix after realising how much we miss having them.. We didn't really think it would be possible when we moved in to the new home, however we have a separate secluded area at the bottom of the garden that is currently decked and the decking n...

Electric poultry fencing advice..

How many of you guys use Electric fencing for poultry? and do you have any tips? :)

Looking at buying some second hand electric chicken fencing this time round, and I haven't used it in years. Any tips would be gratefully received.

Re: Cream Legbar cockerel Chick - Surrey/Middlesex

My Cream Legbar boys, are still looking for a home :(

Can choose from two brothers... Both handsome lads, should grow in to fine breeding chaps!

Please shout if you can give one a home or know anywhere that may be able to take one or both.

Thanks,

Re: Cream Legbar cockerel Chick - Surrey/Middlesex

Hi Annie, Thanks for your reply... That's lucky having a contact to take your boys ;) I love legbars and the Broody hen is a Legbar x White Star, so it made sense to give her Cream Legbar eggs :) Purchased 6 and ended up with 5 Chicks which I was supprised about considering the eggs were sent to me ...

Re: Cream Legbar cockerel Chick - Surrey/Middlesex

Thanks Linda, I probably should have culled them at hatching, that was the idea behind hatching an auto-sex breed but I just didn't have the heart to do it. Mum looked so proud of her efforts Fingers crossed I will find someone that can take one boy... Crossed with hybrid hen there is a 50/50 chance...

Re: Cream Legbar cockerel Chick - Surrey/Middlesex

No interest sadly... Such as shame but understandable due to the issues with neighbours with regards to cockerels these days. If only I had the space for more boys Anyone else had any luck re-homing boys... really don't want to cull if I can help it as they will make super handsome boys for the ladi...

Re: ANyone tried growing fig trees?

Can I ask what feed is advised for fig plants, I tend to top up the pots each year with a fresh layer of compost but ha...
