Masterchef final 2021As a result of the tv programme changes on Friday after the Duke of Edinburgh's death announcement, the rescheduled showing for the Masterchef final will apparently be 3.20am on the 23 April 2021. I record it anyway to watch later so won't be a problem but seems an odd time to show what is normally ...
Algae 2 update And the low temperatures had an impact on my algae project - I'd left the bottles on the windowsill for maximum light from the south side, but was also the coldest. However, when there was some sunshine, the temperature on the windowsill was much warmer than expected. For the moment, not a lot of g...
Re: How many of you have had your Covid jab?I don't understand the problem with "Covid passports" - if you haven't had the vaccine for whatever reason (unable to, pregnant, refuse) but can prove you have immunity or tested negative, then surely this gives people more confidence of mingling at venues than the current situation where there is a...
Re: LucasClearly Lucas is trying to tell me something - I suspect it is the food I offer him {rofwl} I don't understand why he has got fussy with the wet food - he seems put out when I offer just biscuits (which I have in one bowl) but is very interested when I lift up the bowl which I use for wet food. Howe...
Re: Lucas He's bringing you presents! He's been bringing me presents nearly EVERY DAY yike* - I have had to deal with the 9th mouse in as many days, only 2 were found dead. The others were very much alive and mobile - Lucas brings me the mouse just as I'm about to go to bed, then sits down and watches me whi...
Re: Where's Tabatha?Lucas was a bit reluctant using the cat flap at first - there was no doubt food especially treats like Dreamies were very important to him at the time so he was eventually persuaded by a reward. I can remember him outside patting the flap with his foot while I was indoor calling him while holding th...
I got a delivery :) Does your home-working let you choose your own time or must you be at your desk for most of the daylight hours? A bit of both - I put a lot of pressure on myself to meet targets to show I AM working but generally my line manager is happy for those working from home to fit round home life (especiall...
Pond maintenance + tidying upDuring the stormy weather last week, the plastic sheeting over the pond was lifted up and tossed about under the netting pinned over which normally holds the sheets in place. The wind was so wild that it was too dangerous to go outside to try and sort the sheets out until the direction had shifted f...
Onions, garlic & potatoes 2021I wasn't going to bother growing veg this year and was just going to concentrate on flowers and the algae project no. 2 but I was tempted by the free p&p  ... I restrained myself and kept to the basics of onions, garlic & potatoes when ordering online. I've never grown a spring planted garlic ...
Re: Lucas He sounds as though he has you wrapped round his paws, clever cat. {rofwl} certainly keeping me on my feet Last night (thankfully not bedtime this time), I heard the cat flap swing shut and as I waited for him to make his usual appearance in the living room, there was nothing. I called his name and...
Re: How many of you have had your Covid jab? I listened to someone on radio yesterday saying that one vaccine (Oxford???) was more likely to give side effects on the first dose, less on the booster, but the other way round for the other. I suppose it depends on what the vaccine is made up of. In a way, it is experimental compared to other vac...
Re: How many of you have had your Covid jab?I was fine on the Sunday I had the jab but felt unwell the rest of the week. Mainly aches and joint pain, headache, chills (they were the worst) and feeling flu-like symptoms (I even convinced myself I was going down with a cold which made me wonder where I had picked it up) but nothing serious and ...
Re: LucasWith the cold weather throughout winter, Lucas preferred to leave the middle door to the living room wide open - no sooner had I got up to close it, out he went again }hairout{ I had tied a piece of elastic to the door handle so that it didn't swing wide open but it had to be slack enough for when h...
Re: Panorama, Rubbish Dump BritainApparently they can use CCTV cameras that can track your car number plate to fine you for disposing of litter such as takeaway containers, paper, cigarette butts but the more serious fly tipping is too difficult? BBC News
Panorama, Rubbish Dump BritainI watched this on tv last night - absolutely shocking. It's clearly organised crime on a massive scale rather than random. The behaviour of those who saw they were being filmed were really aggressive. I can't believe nothing is being done to tackle it. You can watch it on iPlayer here
