Re: Two unusual sightings

Whilst I have seen nothing unusual, my neighbooour has. She and her husband have spotted a white tailed eagle on two occasioons recently. The enormous bird which has a win g soan of eight feet has twice visited the huge trees at the bottom of their garden. I have yet to see the photo, but how amazing!

Concern for the summer plants, colder weather.

I have slowly been bringing odd pots and my two hanging baskets into the greenhouse. Tomorrow I am hoping my son will assist me in constructing some extra shelving, which keeps falling apart - no plants on it yet, thank goodness. The baskets on the side of the workshop have borage, poppies and nastur...

Re: How does your garden grow?

I managed to buy winter pansies yesterday, so this morning they have been planted up. If I had thought earlier, I would have bought seed. My hanging basket petunias are very leggy, with very few blooms, but I am hoping to overwinter them in the greenhouse. My two rose bushes in the back garden are b...

Bill Turnbull, RIP

I was shocked to read on the BBC News, that Bill Turnbull has died, aged sixty six. He made my morning TV, although Dan Walker has been a brilliant replacement.

I just loved Bill, and his gracious presentations. So sad for his family.

Re: Homeade Bread

Really pleased with the bread my bread maker turns out. Just made a two pound loaf instead of the one pound ones, and am looking forward to cutting into it.

Thanks Mo. I re-potted the lupins into a large container yesterday, still in the greenhouse.

Re: I think I have made a mistake!

My lupin seedlings are still in pots in the greenhouse. I do not want to plant them out due to the slug situation, and am hoping to be able to overwinter them where they are. They are about six inches tall with large leaves.

Re: Homeade Bread

I have made several loaves so far. The first was with plain white flour, and came out about one inch thick, but tasted good. Second was a packed mix which was spicey, made half the packet, and will finish it off soon. Third attempt was with strong white bread flour, delicious, and am now in the proc...
