Re: Sudden blindness....

Really kind of you Bob. She was the least friendly and was always nervous around people, but she was still part of the gang here. She was a loner and if she could get into the house, she would jump on to the unit in the utility room and hide in the darkest corner she could find...( should have named...

Re: Sudden blindness....

Hi, my friends partner ( vet ) kindly called tonight after work and Katiee was pts... He said her brain was likely affected by a parasite but her body was still going strong despite no food or water since Thursday. He said that she would not have been conscious during this time, so that's a relief (...

Re: Sudden blindness....

think my friends partner will pop up and help her go without me dragging her out of the coop if it goes on any longer...she really seems unconscious and has not moved her position at all. If I thought she was aware I'd want to do something, but thanks v much.....

Re: Sudden blindness....

Sad update re Katiee.....she went into the coop, tucked herself in the corner...and has remained there ever since in a sleeping mode ( This started Thursday eve !). She seems to be in a coma, and hasn't had water or food. She was refusing either before this. I just can't believe she is still breathi...

Re: Sudden blindness....

Well....Katiee seems to be manfully striding on!! She doesn't have any issues with her pupils that I've noticed...she tries to wander round the garden ( tripping over curbs, food bowls & her chuck pal as she goes). She does seem to have a little vision though, and when she has a good shake, more ...

Re: Sudden blindness....

Thanku both..the corner of at least one eye is grey. She's very disoriented but I notice that she put herself to bed tonight and so I'm guessing that she's still able to see enough to know when it's dark.. I'm hoping a vet may be able to call in ( the partner of a friend of mine ) and give me an ide...

Sudden blindness....

My Blackrock seems to have lost her sight quite suddenly ...she is also moulting a lot. Could there be a connection? She is eating but I have to coax her. I put a cob of corn on the grass which she really enjoyed, but she is losing weight. She is approaching 4 yrs old. Don't think it's Maraks as the...

Re: Looking for ideas for a chicken coop

Hello & welcome Organica.... You thought that the cosy coop was a bit small. We have the exact one you showed and it's been fine for 3 chucks and easy to clean...no mites in 3 & 1/2 years. We ordered double the recommended run length and they stayed in it all of two days.. . They have free r...

Lap Sitters...

I've just had to take Mabel, my lap sitter, to the vets to be pts. {cry} When I went into the garden and no one clamoured to sit on my lap, it really hit me. So, can we train the girls to do this, or is it instinct with individuals?
