Re: Any idea what berries these are

Just a guess...............

Re: How does your garden grow?

Everything is slowing down here now, still harvesting the beetroot, courgettes, cucumbers, loads of tomatoes, peppers and cauliflowers. Raspberries are dwindling off and all the aubergine plants have gone but we grew way too many this year! We have some butternut squashes drying and another lot to c...

Re: Growing Jersey lilies

If my memory serves me correctly (which it does not always) these plants do not originate from Jersey but from South Africa so need lots of sun in order to flower and poor soil with plenty of grit. We grew them in a pot in the conservatory and they smell lovely.

Grouping of the feathered migrants

The trees behind us are full of bee-eaters, the telephone line cables are full of swallows, the storks are circling above the village, golden orioles are beginning to form groups in the lime trees, the hoopoes have disappeared as have the rollers and the jays are returning from the forest in excepti...

Re: Geese - two unexpected additions!

So we now have our two geese happily heading to their nightly abode in the barn after enjoying their evening meal at the barn entrance. We sit and have a chat with them for as long as they want then when they get bored with our conversation they go to bed, not sure we actually understand each other ...

Re: Chicken in a tree

I know it does not help your situation but we have two coops that our various chickens wander off to at night, it is a case of any one will do, apart from one hen, she settles on top of the gate post every night and stays there until lifted of and placed into a coop. I think she just does it for the...

Tomatoes......What do you do with them???

We have a plethora of tomatoes this year so have been in need of some ideas of what to do with them. The usual chutneys plus our favorite roast pepper and tomato chutney are already in the cupboard, tomato puree and various sauce mixes with added herbs etc. are in the freezer as are many tomato soup...

Re: Geese - two unexpected additions!

Today we built a secure pen in our barn for the geese to sleep in overnight, it is about time they left the comfort of our porch for their own abode. Have you ever tried to make a goose go where it does not want to?? I thought chickens were bad but these had us running up and down, left and right, r...

Re: How many Chickens have you ? - POLL

Started with five, rapidly went to ten. We have had a rolling average of @ 20 during the summer months consisting of broilers and young chicks brought in to increase our number of egg layers unfortunately we struck out again this year with most of the young chicks being cockerels, still they are gre...

Ginger Moth or not?

What am I?? https://7-t.imgbox.com/mhOSdeqw.jpg https://0-t.imgbox.com/F9w61ZFw.jpg I found an image in the internet that was labelled "Ginger Moth", But it must have a proper name! Its furry head reminded me of one of the bats we get in Bulgaria. There are many of these around at present ...
