I wouldn't worry to much, but I can fully understand why you are worried! Your ex batts use up a lot of the calcium they get from their food to grow new feathers and that's probably why you are getting soft eggs. Grit doesn't provide extra calcium, it's just to help them grind down their food in the...

Yes, probably due to the fact that they are moulting and the days are getting shorter aswell. Egg production depends on daylight aswell!
May I ask why you are giving them cat food?
