Re: Shetland

I watch it and like it a lot - the only thing I've read the books and they're the same stories but changed significantly ... think it might have been better if they'd gone for different stories rather than changing the originals so much. I really want to go to Shetland one day - love to go for Shetl...

Re: Who's favourite for Strictly then !!??

I'm another who'd go for Claudia and Tess - thought they were really good when Brucie had a day off. I know a lot of people wont agree (Maggie!) but I think they will miss Brucie - there was a certain charm to his style which was very strictly!

Re: Chicken pox

It would indeed be a revolting chicken - I look like an extra from Monty python and the holy grail - just been to the doctors and people were literally diving out of my way - all I need is a bell to ring. :-D

Re: Knitting Update

When you knit on a large circular needle it takes a lot of the weight away because it kind of sits of your lap rather than on the needles so you dont notice the weight. :-D

Re: Knitting Update

Thank you - the advantage of knitting in the round, especially with two colours is that you dont have to purl. Every round is a knit round and you get stocking stitch - its like magic. I think purling with two colours would be quite difficult. It's the way the norwegians and people in the Shetlands ...

Knitting Update

Finished my fair isle cardigan - first knitting project I've steeked - this is when you knit it in the round and then cut the knitting - so in this case I cut up the front and then pick up and knit the border and buttonhole edging. It was nowhere near as complicated as it looks - very chuffed with i...

Re: Baker's cyst

I'm really going to push for one this time - I need to see my GP to refer me back to orthopaedics - they discarged me after the athroscopy last year. They couldn't refer me back at the hospital with all the changes to funding etc - has to be done through the GP now. I do think the NHS is on the whol...

Baker's cyst

Never heard of this until a couple of weeks ago but boy have I now. I've got an arthritic knee and despite an op last year to tidy things up it has been getting increasingly painful again. Had a steroid injection a few weeks ago and it didn't make much difference tbh. The pain got worse and worse - ...

Fake or Fortune

Anyone else watch this last night on BBC1.. It's a great programme about trying to discover if a work of art is real or not. It's absolutely fascinating and well worth a watch .. not boring at all. The art world is a very interesting world with many winners and losers.

Re: How's Egg Laying going with you all ?

Getting 3 a day from 4 laying hens - it's the two new girls that I got in late summer that have laid consistently all though the winter virtually everyday. Think getting new girls towards the end of summer is probably a good plan, they then come into lay when the older girls tend to go "off&quo...

Re: Been busy with the crochet hook

I struggled with ripple blankets when I first did one - the best explanation I've seen is Lucys which you've probably seen already - laid out with photos so it makes sense:- m" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If I make another I'd have to refer back to it again till I've got ...
