Hi Amber, I would just let them settle in, can't say I've ever heard of an animal starving itself to death, unless it's very unwell. Your girls are in a strange enviroment at the moment, and it will take a little while to settle down, at least there were no handbags at dawn!! )t'

Gave the grass in the garden it's last cut on sunday, just as i was going over a long grown part, I noticed a slight movement!, yes it was Mr frog, nealy scattered around the garden in a thousand pieces! . Same here Richard, I am down to two girls also, no eggs since early last year!, over the last seven days I have had 5 eggs! >shrug< , (have been looking for the little red lion mark, just in case my boys are planting them, so far all clear!! )grin2( )

If the deed needs doing, then I do it myself, I was shown by the poultry supplier I go to, not a pleasant thing to do, but when needs must!, just be quick and don't faff around. Only got two left from the original six, they haven't laid an egg for a year now, so I assume my ladies have retired!. They just get mixed corn now through the winter, with greens thrown in, and an extra thick lawyer of chopped straw in the coop, both are doing fine )t'

Hi Christchurch, I putt my chicken bedding in the green recycle big, garden waste etc!, just thought of something else, if the school is going ahead with this then will there be someone to care for the chooks during school holidays etc!!..
