Re: Kombucha

kitla wrote: 24 Feb 2022, 08:44 I've not heard of that, would it be the same as eating kefir?
I think kefir is a fermented milk similar to yoghurt. Kombucha is fermented tea.

Kombucha

Wendy's had a really bad health scare out here in Thailand with acute gastroenteritis. They prescribed antibiotics, which as we know is bad for our gut Microbiome. So she's been recommended that she drink kombucha, a fermented tea.

Any one had any experiences with this - good or bad?

Re: Eating plants - a balanced & varied diet.

Hi Mo, Yes this is a tricky one. I'm sure going back many millennia our hunter-gathering ancestors ate a far more varied diet than we do. Indeed on of the concerns concerning food security is just how dependent the world is on a relatively few varieties of food - rice, wheat. If these fail or are de...

Re: Guess who just walked down my drive

Though they can be menaces, you still got to admire foxes. They've become the apex predator in urban areas. They are intelligent and playful, except when they get in your chick coop and cause carnage.

Yet another amazing siting .....

I was chatting with a young couple from Denmark the other morning before setting of for diving. They in fact weren't going diving but were going snorkelling and asked if they were likely to see any turtles. I told them that I hadn't myself seen any turtles at this particular spot this year but I had...

The Great Pottery Throw Down

I love this show if only for Keith Brymer Jones. He is so emotional - just moved to tears every week - bless him.

Green Planet - Attenborough is a legend

Can't wait for to see BBC's Green Planet. In this series David Attenborough decided to a lot of the filming himself, rather than just the commentaries he has done lately. At 95 he is still an amazing guy.

Re: Homemade soup

We made 'leftovers' soup yesterday, basically all the vegetables still in the fridge from Christmas. We had onion, garlic, carrot, mooli ( a type of radish that looks like a big white raddish), a bit of cabbage, and a bit of broccoli. I also added a cup of red lentils for a bit of body and more prot...

Re: Homemade soup

We make carrot, lentil - finely chop an onion and fry, add red lentils, carrots and stock plus a tiny touch of turmeric, salt, pepper and cumin. We then blend it to a thick soup.

We try to avoid them as much as possible {rofwl}

I thought the John Lewis one was good this year again, they are always very clever with the song choice.

You don't know me

We've watched the whole series (4 episodes) - anyone else watching?

What did you think of the ending (without giving too much away for those still watching)? Not sure I liked it really!

Swimming with sharks

Wendy and I spent a few days on Phi Phi island (pronounced Pee Pee) with our son, Josh, earlier in the week. Phi Phi, a tiny island, is a couple of hours away by ferry from where we live on Phuket, a much much bigger island (we have cars and roads here). Josh has lived on Phi Phi for 8 years now and...

Cooking outdoors!

Although we have a kitchen with a stove and an oven, we prefer to cook outside on the stove we have on our veranda. The day temperature is about 32c now so it's cooler to be cooking outside in the evening when the sun has gone down. I am guessing this is a lot different to UK at the moment. Not exac...
