Educating the postman.

Many areas are blighted by discarded rubber bands ..the culprit your postman. There is a petition here which also has a few interesting links. If you see these rubber bands discarded in your neighbourhood have a word with your postman and remind him of the dangers to our wildlife, their bosses have ...

Re: winning over our hedgehog

I love the idea that you are competing for tenants for your hedgehog houses. I don't think there is much you can do other than provide a nice interior with dried leaves and straw, also put food down near it so it will know it's there. The problem with hedgehogs is that they are not territorial, and ...

Re: HAVING A WOODBURNER?

Yes a lot of Laners use woodburners. We have a corner of our friends barn that we use to season our logs and he delivered 3 tons to us yesterday ..now all stacked in the store ready for the cold weather. We always have a kettle on top of the woodburner and cook on it too ..great for stews and currie...

Re: hedgehog....help advice please

Sorry if I came across as being bias towards the hedgehogs plight, I also keep chickens in my garden so know they do happily coexist.

Primrose could be suffering from shock ..have you checked her for injuries and treated her for shock?

Re: hedgehog....help advice please

Hi cathycarp .. I would hazard a guess that the hedgehog was looking for a hibernation site. It has been so cool and wet after a good summer that he could well have been fooled into thinking it's Autumn so time to stake his claim to a nice dry area where he can build his hibernation quarters.Could y...

Re: Help needed to end puppy farming.

Thank you all so much for your support. signed. I wonder if there might also be an effort to clamp down on the imported puppy trade at the same time. Pup Aid has been very careful in choosing to go for a ban on puppies being sold without their mothers present rather than a ban on all the trading pra...

Help needed to end puppy farming.

Three months ago we adopted Bella, a beautiful miniature schnauzer, from Many Tears Animal Rescue . Bella was rescued from a puppy farm where she had been kept in horrific conditions and used to churn out litters of pups untill she suffered a hernia and was left to die. On Sept 4th a debate is being...

Re: Cat car travelling advice please

I would definitely keep them contained in cat box or small cage to prevent any escapes between houses. Haven't transported cats so can only give my experience of bringing Bella our rescue dog home. We took her cage and bedding to her fosterer a few days before so her bedding had familiar smells. On ...

Re: Beetroot ideas please

Twist the stems off then boil in their skins .. they take a while boiling but you can cut the cooking time by cooking in the microwave .. add a little water to a heatproof dish and cover, cook for 8-10 mins...remove skins after cooking. )t'
