Re: The kind of food I like

I enjoy cooking and just because I am on my own I refuse to give up. I still do a roast at least once a week. I do a lot of stir fries because I love the flavours you can get into them. I love my veg. and work my steamer very hard. I can do a roast chicken dinner in about 20 mins. I do cheat and use...

Re: Ginger powder

I have never had a problem getting ginger powder. I fact I bought some only about 2 weeks ago. Try your local Indian supermarket or Thai or Chinese.

"I will only say if I thought she was suffering beyond a reasonable amount".. what is a reasonable amount, she should not be allowed to suffer at all. I find that a very upsetting and horrendous statement.

Re: My attempt to keep chickens.

," she cannot ,live like she is wasting away". You are not going to like my reply but why are you letting her go through this? I know how difficult it is, I have been through it more ties than I care to add up, chickens, ducks, cats too numerous to count, dogs, pet sheep, goats, horses. As...

Re: Duck destroying eggs

I totally misunderstood your post. I read it that you were getting ducks and not that it was a duck doing it already. Sorry.

Re: Duck destroying eggs

It's a pain when chickens do that. All you can do is try and get the eggs out of the box before she attacks, unless she is doing it straight away after laying. I kept ducks for many years and never had a problem with them attacking their eggs. I did keep my ducks separate from the chickens because a...

Re: My attempt to keep chickens.

I have to agree with SHMBO and have thought this all along but didn't want to cause any upset so kept quiet. My personal view is that she has gone through enough. Trust me I have been through this situation more times than I care to add up and it is not easy but how long can you go on force feeding ...

Re: water keeps freezing

My chicken is living in my log cabin at the moment. She is not happy about it but at 7 1/2 yrs old I think it is too cold for her to be out, even in her run. Her little Omlet house was lovely and warm and she also had a shelter but would insist on digging up the rest of the run.
