Re: Crochet advice pleaseIf you do go that route it is neater to just pick one side of the stitch up, the two that touch as you hold the two pieces together. pick the bottom of the top v and the top of the bottom if that makes sense.... so the join is not too bulky. Hope this makes sense.... >>>>>>>>> work the bottom of thi...
Re: Crochet advice pleaseI am a big fan of joining by DCing them together with the ridge on the face of the blanket (work with both wrong sides together), I would either use white or to make a big contrast black, depends who it is for.....
Re: One basic squareThat is really good, especially for a first square - my first one was distinctly lopsided
Re: Learning to crochetTell hubby that my friend crochets without looking and she is ONLY 55 so a youngster
Re: Learning to crochetI could never get the hang of holding the yarn in my left hand, I couldn't tension it. Holding it in my right hand and wrapping around the hook (like Helen does) works for me too.
There is no right way or wrong way, whatever way suits you is the way to go
Re: Learning to crochet
Have you tried Addi hooks? I bought 3 in Skipton / Yarndale. I found they sit perfectly in my hand when I kind of let go to throw the yarn round the hook. Previously used Cloverleaf but the Addi ones fit me so much better
Re: Preparing for ChristmasI hardly do anything to prepare beforehand - none of the family like dried fruit so mince pies and Christmas cake are pointless. I buy a few extras like pigs in blankets and keep them in the freezer. The way I look at it is that we don't really eat loads more (other than all the chocolate that we re...
Re: Learning to crochetI re-learned to crochet a couple of years ago having been able to in my teens then forgot. I struggled like mad as I couldn't tension the yarn holding it in the wrong hand (being a knitter) then someone showed me to hold it as if I was knitting and EUREKA! I call in 'cack-handed-crochet' but it work...
Re: Dads Army"Vot is your name" "Don't tell him Pike" how can they top a classic like that?
Be interesting though, we went to see a stage production a few years ago with Leslie Grantham (used to be Den in Eastenders) playing Walker and it was quite good....
Re: Latest crochet project )like( Did you see Lucy from Attic 24? I certainly did, she was standing behind me talking to some ladies whilst I was buying my 'Lucy' pack to make the same ripple blanket that Julie made It was a great show, a wide variety of crafts, all yarn related of course! The was even a pen with Alpacas and...
Re: Latest crochet projectI spotted Julie and ran after her and we managed a quick chat. Her cardigan is fabulous in real life too, and guess what I bought? The Lucy pack to make the ripple blanket!
Re: CillaI think the thing that gets me most about the real Cilla is her awful accent, I am sure she exagerates it and it just gets on your nerves! Plus I don't like the way she sings.... Not really got a lot going for her but she has made a good living out of it
Re: CiliaI completely agree with you, good quality drama at last on TV! Sheridan Smith is a very good actress and carries the part perfectly
