Re: My new bluebells and rirHi and welcome to the lane How exciting, your first chooks Don't forget to share some photos (we're a nosy bunch here ) Our chooks would easily escape over their six ft run until we put a roof on it. Even with a wing clipped I would have thought a 3ft fence would be fairly easy. The problem with win...
Re: New puppyHi Mercedes Could they get someone to to either come in or to walk the puppy in the morning? We have loads of professional dog walkers round here and most offer puppy home visits for situations like this where they come in and sit with the puppy for an hour, let it out for a wee etc. Maybe she could...
Re: Newbie Intro & Q'sHi Javed, welcome to the lane As P.Penn said the size of the run is fine. General rule is 10sq ft per bird. Is the run weatherproof? You might want to consider putting a roof on to keep the wet out, either a strong tarpaulin, corrugated plastic sheeting etc. It's amazing how much nicer an experience...
Re: Raising chicksThey have two chicken areas - a large walk in enclosure that is split into three sections each with a breeding group in, silkies, buff Sussex's and RIR. All of these chickens are on loan from a breeder and any chicks born go back to them. Then they have another walk in run of their own hybrid chicke...
Raising chicksHi all The petting farm where my daughter works would like some more chickens as their current ones are all getting quite old. My daughter has persuaded them to get some day old chicks to rear. This will be her project for them so they have given her free range (and a very limited budget) to do this...
Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...I was eating 600 calories a day on LighterLife and it was tough but do able. I didn't have much energy for exercising though so to do all that exercise on only 500 calories is incredible. TBH I haven't really stuck with the diet at all since Easter. But I hadn't put any on until the last two weeks. ...
Re: Recycled plastic hen houseI had 5 chickens in our loft and could probably have fitted another in (and two of them were Orpingtons so pretty big). They all had their patch - the Orps would be on the back perch, Rosie on the front perch with Freckle and Boo cuddled up in one of the nest boxes. So we still had half a perch and ...
Re: Recycled plastic hen houseWe had a Solway hen loft in a walk in run
I couldn't fault it, cleverly designed, so easy to clean, fab customer service and a very good price.
Re: Isnt this just wrong?Oh I saw this on the news yesterday. It's awful I hope they manage to stop any more damage - I'd impose custodial sentences for people/companies that flout these laws. And remove the land from them. And when they come out of prison, give them community service to single handedly replant all the tree...
Re: Chicks, When can they go outside all night!Anmol77 is no longer with us. Him and his dodgy links can go and spread their spam elsewhere
Re: depression and the slippery road it leads to.I have suffered with depression on and off since my mid teens. You are so right - recognise it and deal with it quickly. It took me many years and a few hospital stays to realise this. I used to try to pretend it's not happening, ignore it and it will go away. Now I can recognise the early warning s...
Re: Feathers just not growing backYou could try a seaweed supplement added to her feed. Seaweed is exceptionally high in protein and contains tons of good minerals. I used to use it when we had chooks and I'm sure it helped them.

Re: Getting hatching eggs in Glasgow (Warning - may offend)Thanks for posting amrowe, really insightful and interesting. I have several local friends who keep chickens and none of them would ever dream of taking their chickens to the vets. If it's not something that could be dealt with at home, the chicken is dispatched. I have no problem with this. I took ...
Re: Asus laptopHmmmmm.... Not such a good offer it seems. We had a confirmation email and tracking number. Should have been delivered on Tuesday but didn't turn up. I sat in all day yesterday too, waiting but again nothing. Phoned them last night and they cannot fulfil the order due to excess demand. So they took ...
Re: Getting hatching eggs in GlasgowHi amrowe
I don't know of any egg suppliers in your area but there's a list on here... http://www.chickens.allotment-garden.or ... egg-UK.php Most suppliers will post too so being very local isn't a massive issue. |
