Re: Chicken Insurance

This is what I think has happened on our site LL, three or four have flouted the law and unfortunatley its the rest of us who have abided by the rules etc have been tarred with the same brush. I had a breif meeting with a council official yesterday and she informed me that its the RSPCA who are insi...

Re: Chicken Insurance

Hope it works out well, Bob. When we pass the allotments outside Market Weighton, on the 1079, I think it is, there are several chicken runs there. I wonder if these tenants have insurance - just a thought. I very much doubt it Spreckly, I have been trying to track down any Insurance company that p...

Re: Chicken Insurance

After being in touch with the council allotment officer she informed me that one of the problems was that a few allotment holders (not me) had recently started keeping cockerels which were begining to cause a noise nuisance to the neighbouring houses and this was the main reason for permission/insur...

Re: Chicken Insurance

Te council never wanted hens on the site but because of the 1959 allotment act they are powerless to stop us, I think they are now just trying to put as mant barriers in our way to grind us down, but it will have the opposite effect on me and make me more resolute, thats the way I roll )t'

Re: How much run space do your Chickens have ?

My part covered shed/run is 26ft by 13 ft and houses 7 chickens at the current time but have another two or three to add when they are old enough. Although I am also in the process of handing another 30ft by 40 feet of grassed area to the chickens after its fenced off and seeded.

As Hull City are one of the new boys in this seasons EPL our goal is to simply stay up, although we got thumped 2 - 0 against a very good Chelsea side I think we have more then reasonable chance of maintaining our Premier status next season. Either way I,m strapped in and going to enjoy the roller c...

Re: attaching wire to new run

Mesh should be stapled to the outside of the wooden frame for the reasons explained by Skeksis. Makes for a far stronger mesh installation if anything were to try and push themselves in.
