Covid - do we just need to get back to normal?

Looking at where we are now it is apparent that Covid is far more deadly say than the standard winter flu. At the same time, however, a good portion of the population have been vaccinated - not to say those who are refusing the vaccine aren't a hazard to themselves and others. We need to be mindful ...

Should the Government enforce plan B or ....

.... should we just expect people to be sensible? I am in two minds about this. Wendy and I still continue to wear masks when on public transport, shopping etc. We are pretty careful about social distancing too and continue with hand washing and using sanitiser. I am sure we can do our bit not to pa...

Re: Have you started stocking up for ... Christmas?

If everything goes to plan, we will be in Thailand, so no need to stock up in UK. We'll take an Xmas pudding as Wendy makes a mean Xmas cake ice cream (too hot for pud and custard) but we don't need to stock up in Thailand itself.

Re: The Earthshot Prize - BBC1

Whilst the prize money of £1 million to each of 5 winners will no doubt be welcomed by those receiving it, it does make me wonder where our priorities are regarding the planet. The money is a drop in the ocean compared to the money other people/organisations have. I read that 8 existing billionaires...

Re: Should we expect more coughs and colds this winter?

Yes as expected - Wendy and I have come down with a cold today. Just a bit snotty and light-headed but nothing too serious.

Just to make sure I did a lateral flow Covid test, which was negative. Wouldn't want a cold masking Covid :-D

Should we expect more coughs and colds this winter?

Hopefully, we are all vaccinated against Covid and flu but we haven't been exposed to cold viruses for a year.

My daughter's 2 year old has already got a snotty nose presumably picked up from her nursery which she is in the process of spreading to the rest of the family.

Hernia update

It will be two weeks tomorrow since my op and I am just about back to normal. I was very stiff and it was painful moving for the first few days and getting in and out of bed wasn't great. I took paracetamol a few times a day at first but after 3 or 4 days only before bed at night. After 7 days didn'...

Re: Strictly Come Dancing back

)like( I think I'm going to enjoy this series )t' I'm not the greatest fan but Wendy likes it so we watch it together. I think the trick to enjoying it, is to remember that this is an entertainment programme and not strictly a 'dancing competition' - which if it were only the professionals would be ...

Re: 9/11 tv documentaries

I watched the one on BBC that timelined the day with George Bush. Very interesting how they got on to Air Force One and in the air quickly because the security forces believed there could have been a direct attack on the president.

Re: Had my double hernia op yesterday!

In the late 1990s, my line manager at work went in for a hernia op - was off for work for over 3 months due to complications I think the only option back then was open surgery, were the surgeon cuts opens up the area and stiches everything back in place. My surgeon did mine via keyhole surgery, so ...
