Help Baby bird

Post by kankel »

Hi All

My sisters cat has brought a baby bird in. Its not injured but its very young, she has it in a little box, when you touch the sides its opening its mouth for food. The have phoned the RSBP who have advised how to feed it, but it really needs to goto an expert..... we are in Rotherham does any one know of someone who could take it

They have done some phoning round but so far no luck

Hi Hun -

Sadly a lot of baby birds fall out of their nests at this time of year, RSPCA advise to leave them well alone normally. Parents often come back and carry on feeding their chicks. However in this instance a cat has known where it is and chances are it will go time and time again for the chick. Normally if you leave a chick alone the parents will come along and feed it. Is it feathered up?? If its just happened in last hour or so any chance of putting it back and keeping cat in?? If it isn't feathered up, its going to be difficult to get it back to wild where it belongs.

If you end up keeping this little chick, chances are it may not survice (just to warn you), you can feed it some of the cats food (paste type not meat in jelly/gravy type) with a little bit of water to make it easier to digest.
