Stag in front garden

Post by albertajune »

I got up in the night to pay a visit and looked out of the front window to see if frost was on the cars.
In my garden was a large stag with lovely big horns. He looked at me for quite a while and then jumped over the low front garden wall. I checked my just shooting roses this morning to see if he had eaten the leaves but he hadn't, so a warning to put a length of wire fencing round my favourite rose at night.
It was great to see this majestic creature all on his own and so close, in the quiet of night.
I am now a widow and live with my memories.

It was a lovely sight and it was so uplifting, if that doesn't sound daft.

Not at all daft June, I have seen quite a few deer around these parts, many have taken me by surprise, as I probably have them, but every single one was a great privilege to see .

If you'd posted this yesterday we would have wondered.

What a sight.
We used to get occassional glimpses in Richmond park, and now at Tatton. But not close up.

Deer are so beautiful aren't they. I am always astonished by how silently they move, even an enormous stag. We were lucky to get very close to a herd of red deer at Wollaton Hall a few years back.

Wow June that must have been so lovely to see him, especially on a dark and frosty night :-D

They certainly are magnificent creatures, especially when you get a close up.

That must have been a wonderful sight! {hug}

My brother would not have been impressed as deer are the bane of his life! They continually eat everything they plant in their garden and cause loads of damage!

They can do damage and I have, I think, learned what not to plant. I do have a rose bush that I should try and move as they take of the new roses and the leaves. One year I told someone to look at my beautiful crocus, that ran all along the outside of the front wall. She said 'what crocus'. The lot had gone so I don't plant them any more. I do love the wildlife, so put up with what they do. The chickens and dog are as bad but I make excuses for them. {rofwl}
