Re: deaths head hawk moththey`ve started to pupate they are starting to change colour slightly and climb around the cage away from the food, the one who`s ready to pupate is the more orange looking one to the left of the pic`s
this is their new home, a recycling bin half filled with compost, they`ll bury themselves and turn into pupa`s under the soil, got 4 in there at the moment they`ll stay there for about 10 days before I dig them up, then hopefully it`ll be about 2 weeks before they`ll hatch see ya in about 3 weeks babies going .. going ... gone ! “cockerels may crow but it's the hen that lays the egg." Re: deaths head hawk mothThey are enormous Huge in fact. It really is amazing how much they have changed over a very short period of time.
What bush's do they like to eat the most, or arent they fussy?
Re: deaths head hawk moththey eat members of the deadly night shade family, potato`s etc and privet, mines been munching on privet, they told me it was yummy
only got 4 caterpillars above ground now, the other 11 are under the soil OCK LIKES TO PARTY !!!!
Re: deaths head hawk mothall the caterpillars apart from one have disappeared under the soil now, only one not to go is Junior, he`s smaller that the rest so think he needs to munch a bit more , now I`ve got to wait about a week then dig them up, then wait another couple of weeks before they hatch out as moths
in the mean time I`ve got me some more eggs , they are giant atlas moths this time, they`ve got a 25cm wingspan , the eggs arrived today and 5 of them had hatched out in the post OCK LIKES TO PARTY !!!!
