Big Garden Birdwatch

Just received my rspb birdwatch pack, how many of you will be joining me to count the birds in your garden or park ect?it only takes an hour and it's next weekend.Carole

On Birdwatch Day for the last 2 years the birds dissapeare as if they know they are going to be counted !

Yes, an hour is a short time to watch. Usually I just look out of the window and see a blackbird eating the apples I've thrown out one time, or a woodpecker another time, or a couple of woodpigeons some other time, or some longtail tits, then a flock of roosting sparrows at dusk. But to see any or all in a particular hour - NO.

We had slim pickings this year even with having filled up all the feeders. Blue tits, robins, sparrows, doves and a starling. Bonus though - a red kite (they're always around here). I don't think chickens count.
