Double Glazing and Birds

Post by Richard »

This year I've had two birds kill themselves by flying straight into the downstairs windows.
Last year it must have been 4 or 5, including one of the baby Woodpeckers who took to our front garden
(see video clip at www.downthelane.net/multimedia.html )

Problem is that d/g acts as a mirror to them and they can't tell the window from the garden trees reflection.

Without any obvious detriment to views out of the house or pure untidyness, has anyone got around this in any way.

i went to school with a girl who said she had this happen and her dad put a fake mesh on their window (but it was a small window - about 1metre by 1 metre)
they used some of that removable plastic stuff with mesh printed on it, the stuff that doesnt leave sticky marks on it.
removed it when people were round (cos they were being posh)
i dont remember her telling the bird story ever again....but that doesnt mean it worked! maybe worth a try though!
and no i dont know where they got it from!

good luck
