Fluffy Ducklings

Post by Mo »

There's a large excavation in my garden which has turned into a pond. I just looked out of the window and saw fluffy ducklings on it. About 10 dashing about, no mum to be seen and I never knew there was a nest, though I've seen a few ducks & drakes now and then.
do the ducks go off and come back? If she doesn't come back can they feed themselves?

Like they say on the advert - give them a home & they will come!
I think we may need a photo.

I think so too - but it will have to wait for someone with a phone or camera and then I'll have to put my thinking cap on / stand on my head / swear a bit / and eventually post it.

They are quite hard to see, I can see parts of the pond from a couple of windows. But there are clumps of self seeded rushes and 'bullrushes' (I think it's really called reed mace), and they go and hide if they see people.
The pond is in an excavation so it's not simple to walk all round it, by the time you've got near where they went they move again.
