Swifts

Post by wildlifemad »

I saw my first Swift of the year last Friday (5th). I know it is said the first Swallow is a sign of Summer but for me & hubby it is always the first Swift. On Sunday afternoon we sat in the garden in beautiful sunshine & had around 30 circling around & screaming. We are lucky that they are the most common out of Swift,Swallow & House Martin.
Anyone else seen any yet?

So far our swallows, swifts and martin numbers are depleted this year, I hope they are just returning late but if so the youngsters may not be strong enough for the return journey.
