Slow Worms coming along nicely.

Post by Richard »

I have two old rubber car mats on the edge of some overgrowth out the back. Put them there a few months ago.

Other than one young Grass Snake they've been occupied by Slow Worms, at present 4 under one and two under the other.

This photo from yesterday shows some young ones should be on the way in a few weeks !

I can JUST about cope with seeing Slow worms but have a real phobia about snakes. Had a fully grown Grass snake under weed suppressant on our lotty a couple of years ago, I was not the same for days!! Nice photo though!!!

I couldn't pick them up !!

Two similar examples of Grass Snakes..

1. Picking up a load of grass cuttings by hand and one jumped out on my chest

2. Putting my hand in the Chicken Nest Box to have one leap out.

Scared the living daylights out of me !! yike* yike* yike*

Only seen one Adder here which was sleeping under a tent I put up for my son. I only realised when I took the tent up.
Slivered off in no great rush.
