Blackcaps!

Post by wildlifemad »

I am pleased to say that on Sunday we had a Blackcap back in the garden for the first time this winter & on Monday we also had a female. Hopefully they will stay around for the winter, they usually do which will cost us this year in apples as last year we had loads from the allotment (& the neighbours allotment) which lasted us through to March but all the trees got frosted in Spring this year just as the blossom came out so no apples. We also have a party of Long tail Tits most days at the moment which we don't always see regularly.

I love to see the long tail tits flitting through.
There are loads of apples on the ground in my orchard (I'm wishing now that I'd picked more as I've given away a lot). I can only see a bit of it from my desk, but there are loads of blackbirds and fieldfares that I see when they fly up, or when I go out to the car - just a flash as they're off.

I had to google to see what they were like. We have none here more is the pity as they are pretty birds.

Lovely birds and great to read you have one wildlifemad.

Sadly I haven't seen any in my garden. Here's a couple of shots of those I've seen around and about..

Nice photos Richard! We are lucky & seem to hold onto a pair each winter with the help of the apples! The last cold winter we had (was it 4 or 5 years ago?) we had a total of 4 coming, telling the difference between them by markings. Perhaps when I am bored this winter (!!!!!!!) I will learn how to upload photos to the site.
