Black Swan

Post by Emmamoo »

There be a black swan down at Hayesden Lake at the moment. It's a solitary bird, I think it may be an escapee from a breeding programme. Don't swans have life long partners?

It is a beautiful bird. Lets see if this pic works.

And I also think I have seen an Egyptian Goose down there as well. I may be wrong but these 2 birds were not listed in any of my bird books!

This is the bird I saw today - do we think this is a female Egyptian Goose? I am not sure, but looking at the photo I posted first (which I found online) I think it may be as it fits no other description.

Just call me Bill Oddie. )t'

I'm such a geek - I love bird watching. I was luck to see the goose today again, and fortunate to get that picture! I also saw a great crested grebe. Reason I'm so chuffed to see these different birds is that it's usually mallards ruling the waters here.

I must invest in some binoculars!!!

Can you identify Olpolls Ducks then in the other birds section?

They look a bit mallardy! )t'
