Best Bantam for laying eggs

Post by jacquih »

Hi, just recently lost one of my 3 Serama bantams, really need to get a couple of others now in case anything happens to another one and one gets left on her own.
Although I like the seramas, so tiny and pretty, they are not fantastic egg layers, maybe lucky to get 3 eggs in a week from about 3,so I am looking to get another sort of bantam, one that might be a little more prolific,dont get me wrong not looking for loads of eggs, but enough to survive on,can anybody recomend me any types that fit the criteria.
Had thought of getting bigger chickens, but not sure they would mix together considering the vast size difference:)

I've a chocolate Orpington bantam that lays 6 a week.

I keep Wyandotte bantams and they lay quite well. Problem is they go broody at the drop of a hat! }hairout{

We keep Laced Wyandottes for the eggs.Five give us
3-4 a day on a regular basis,plenty for us.Also have White
Faverolles,1 cockerel 2 older hens and a 5 month hen,from
which we get 2 every other day but will increase as we breed
3 or 4 more.
Enjoy don't worry.
