Spring has sprung !!

We've had 3 lambs born already one I think I mentioned somewhere else...but yesterday on one of the windiest days and nights in North Canterbury they reckon in 40 years this little guy was born...we've called him Kari which is Swedish for Wind...he is a pure Gotland (which is also an island off mainland Denmark).

Today was a surprise..because I wasn't expecting a lamb from this little ewe...so as it was sunny and warm this one is Sol (yep Swedish for Sun)

Thankfully he has a bit more white on him than Kari or we'd have big problems telling them apart....they look very alike in every others way except this little bod is tiny! Very cute though

Kari will stay as a ram - he is full Gotland and so hopefully will turn out like his dad Magnus.
The other boys...Barbara has had twin boys just now (similar colours...will get a pic asap)!!! I'm not sure what we're going to do.....they are pure Gotland too but ram lambs we can't keep them all so it's either sell as rams or wether them and then they move to a colder place later....it's deciding I'm afraid.

Aaaw! They are sooo pretty. Must be a real joy to see them arrive.

The smallest one is called Göll (which in Swedish sounds like Yell and means loud shout LOL....because he does )....the bigger one is a bit more aloof and I can't really think anything to do with his personality so decided I would go with Tvilling (means twin)

I decided Livvi's baby when it makes it's entrance we'll call Loki ...who was the trickster...because she tricked us ..had no idea she was pregnant either !! .

Magnus is ambivalent about the whole thing...

If they grow up like him though they will be big boys.

I love Gotlands...Freyja and Barbara have been the nicest sheep and they have such lovely personalities in addition to being such good mums.

They're lovely but they're loud at the moment...never ceases to amaze me how much noise can come out of something so small !!

Margo has had her baby ...pure black not a spot of white on her...so Ebony.


Livvy had her baby as well....possibly the smallest little bod I've ever seen!! She is sooo weeny....so we've called her Brigitte (Bridget the midget )

I'm just glad the weather is getting warmer because it's helping her heaps.
