Getting ducks, how do they choose to stay?

Post by Tom32s »

Hi bit of advice needed please.
We have a large 8acre garden and the corner we have a cornered off pond with a central island. Is a fairly good size.
Recently have noticed a couple ducks turning up there from time to time. Would love to have ducks personally. We were going to put a house on the island area for them or thinking about getting some ducks ourselves but not sure how they choose to stay in the same area, ie if we brought ducks and put them by the pond would they just fly off?
We have ten chickens but not near the pond area. Are ducks like chickens where you initially keep them in closed in the house for a few days and return here every day?
Any advice please?

Kind regards

Paul

Would love to upload a picture of the area but don't know how

Mine eat layers pellets and mixed corn same as chickens they love peas. They live in a coop without perches and they don't need a nest box.
