Overweight Cat
Overweight CatAnyone got a fat cat or dog?
Bobo my black and white moggy was huge and I thought he was getting asthma, his breathing was so bad. I had him on Hills light for over a year and didn't see much improvement. He's only 10 years old but he was just lying about sleeping most of the day. Someone suggested Hills Feline Metabolic to me. It's a new formulation, they eat it and it expands to make them feel full so they a can't over eat. Just into the 3rd 4kg bag and he's almost back to a healthy weight. The breathing problems have gone and he's got a new found energy. It's fantastic stuff that really works. That's just over three months and he's like a new man. Hills might do a human version soon.. y Re: Overweight CatGlad to hear you've had a positive result.

One of our cats was rather podgy, so we cut her food down and used to put her at the bottom of one set of stairs where she would go up those, across the landing and come down the other set of stairs. Seems quite cruel, but with cutting food down and doing that she soon lost weight. Up till then she was THE laziest cat there ever could be.
Re: Overweight CatTook my little dog into work on Saturday and weighed him - he's got to lose a couple of kilos of weight. Have upped his exercise and will continue to weigh him at work on a weekly basis. Did think of going onto Royal Canin weight control diet, but think Jasper will lose weight by increased walks and cutting down his treats - er, the dental sticks have gone the journey as vet I work with is saying they are responsible.

Re: Overweight CatBob was weighed at his weighed at his yearly check up.
He has gone from 8.2kgs to 6.2kg. He is now a healthy, happy boy that's the vets words not mine. I'm absolutely delighted. He's to stay on Metabolic as he will always be prone to weight gain. But can have treats again. I like to treat them, but I was killing him with kindness. He was really lazy when he was fat, but as the weight came off his activity levels have risen. He has the odd box with the chickens but they ultimately win and he runs off. He's getting back to his cheeky self again. It's great as he's an eleven year old cat. I kept being told it was because he was old, but he's blown that theory out. Re: Overweight CatGlad to hear he has lost the extra pounds, bless him. Hope he has a long and very healthy life from here on.
Our podgy cat is 13 yrs old and hers was nothing to do with age either. |
