can I put my chicken poop onto my vegetables? Do I need to rot it down first in the composter?

It has very high nitrogen, and is said to 'burn' plants.
And a go though the compost heap would kill any germs that you wouldn't want on your salad.
My fruit growing book says that blackcurrants are gross feeders and will tolerate raw chicken manure, which suggests that most things won't.

Tina
It was Richard that had the 'problem'

Chicken feather mulch are supposed to encourage blackcurrants to fruit heavily.
