Rocket

Post by TassieDev »

Hi
I'm growing Rocket and some of it is getting a flower stalk. It hasn't been growing all that long and the leaves aren't that big. Should I cut that flower stalk off, or is it pretty well finished once it flowers?

thanks!

Hmmm I guess it's not a big crop round your way :?

It seems pretty easy to grow - well I grew it so it must be - and I think maybe just need to keep making more sowings all the time.

Also it seems maybe lack of water and the time of year make it go to seed anyway, from what I could gather.

ahhhhhh - had to reply seeing as nobody has

All I know is that it's "run to seed". I don't know much about it, but my rocket is fine, until the height of summer (when we have one!!??) then it seems to get too dry and warm and flowers...........

Maybe keeping it in the shade a little more if it's really warm there now????

Not sure if I'm right though

We tend to grow loads in short succession and pick them once they're ready. That way, it seems to avoid them going to seed.

ahh thanks, yes it's all coming together now i think.
it took me by surprise growing so damn fast - now i know why they call it 'rocket'!!
i wouldnt call the weather 'hot' but it has been warmish, and it probably thought it was high summer as i didnt water as much as i could have (if i had more water)

re water it poured rain here last night YEAH!!!!!

will hold off the need for another water delivery for a while i think

(and watered the rocket)
