mustard & cress

Post by lancashire lass »

I'd forgotten what it was like growing mustard & cress on the windowsill to put on sandwiches. One of my Christmas presents was a little seed sprouter (T&M) and I'm starting to harvest after just one week. (beef butties with mustard... )lck( )

It's alright for a bit of fun, AND guaranteed fresh too! You have to watch out you don't end up with green bits on your teeth, especially while at work!

I have some adzuki bean sprouting as well. I think you can do stir fries with those :-D

i often wondered if sprouted grains might be good for chickens, seeing as they say they're good for humans!

As a young boy back in the 50's, I recall growing it on a flannel in a metal dish- am I right?

I really don't know what you did as a boy, Richard. I grew it on a flannel, maybe in a saucer.
Then theres the shell from a boiled egg option. Part fill with soil, draw a face and grow your own hair. Did that with my kids.
