Pumpkin Seeds

Post by Effie »

As I am now going to have huge quantities of excellent compost (thanks girls )ch( )ch( )ch( ), I thought the kids and I could have a go at growing things. We have followed the instructions on some Pumpkin seeds but there is no sign of germination after two weeks.

Should I give up on this batch and start again? Are there any tips to persuade reluctant seeds to sprout? They have probably heard about the girls' 'green removal policy' and stayed brown!

Forgive my dimness - absolute beginner

would they by any chance be from a brightly coloured packet aimed at children? we were looking at them in the garden centre the other day, the entire range looked like a good giggle.

Whole kit aimed at children from a certain large supermarket chain :?

Going to buy some proper seeds 'cos we love pumpkin.

In the mean time, I have adopted a bean plant from the science department. Planning a three sisters bed like Jamie O did - pumpkin, sweetcorn and runner beans.

Feeling the need to nurture desperate cases :)

If you wanted to, you could gentlylift them out of your compost bin, and re-plant them.
Its a bit like transplanting - well, it is isnt it!!
