sweet peas

When can I plant them outside? They have been in my cold frame for about two weeks now.

I'm not planting anything outside until the May bank holiday. I've lost too much to sudden frosts in the past!

sweet peas

Hi rachell24

If you can wait till the end of May and then cross your fingers that we don't have frosts.
You could put them out now and fleece them at night.

thanks everyone, I was watching Gardeners World on Friday and Carol Klein was putting hers out in a nursery bed so It got me wondering as I thought it was the end of May as well. I'll leave them where they are for now. I just wish the wind would go away Im sick of it. (now now Dave, before you say I have a problem)

Rachelle
I am pretty sure that sweet peas are hardy annuals and can survive frost, but it is very important that they are hardened off (open your cold frame everyday for 2 weeks to get them used to the weather) then plant out.

blimey, I haven't even sown mine yet! I don't usually put mine out until later on in May though.
