'Green' compost bin'Green' compost binWhile looking for the answer to a query about a willow woven dust bath I found this compost bin. Wonder what else you can use, we don't have willow, but there's lots of wisteria and other prunings every year.

I fancy making the decorative balls but out of wisteria. I use my wisteria prunings for wreaths and they last a couple of years. Willow doesn't last very well so I would imagine the compost bin would pretty much rot down with the compost! Quand je serai vieille je vais vivre en France

Re: 'Green' compost binI have lots of hazel... wonder if we coppiced it properly we'd get whippy sticks as well as pea sticks?

Re: 'Green' compost binI really like the compost bin, and was wondering about making a living one with a removable bit for turning the contents. Can anyone see why that wouldn't work? Love some of the other ideas too.
Re: 'Green' compost binIf you make a living one with willow I would wait a year for the bottom roots to establish because the stems will root into the compost where it touches up the sides, and then when you empty the bin you will have to cut those side roots.
