Advice needed re cucumbers

Post by davina112 »

I have picked my first cucumber today, it is a good size about the same as you would buy. There is another one nearly as big, but then the others, about 8 are all very tiny, they are growing to about an inch big but then going yellow and dying. Why is this happening ? What am I doing wrong. I am making sure I don't water the foliage, I don't thinking am over or under watering. I am making sure there is a bit of water in the saucer the pot is stood on as everything dries out quickly in the poly tunnel. Any advice ?

You are not doing anything wrong - some cucumbers only like to produce one or two fruits and will sacrifice the others so that these go to maturity (after all, fruiting plants are producing seed for next generation). When you pick these off, more flowers will come along )t'

The little ones are nice to eat,and ideal sandwich size, so if they look as though they're going to go downhill then pick them too.
