You are 60 years behind me there, Richard. (Did you pinch my idea?)
I went at it more seriously, cultivating a little border in the back-way between our garden and the allotments. It didn't seem fair that some plants were neglected, so that's what I planted.
My first introduction to the destructive powers of hens, I had to watch them when they were let out into the back-way, and make sure they didn't go round the corner onto the road. They enjoyed the weeds and couldn't seem to tell the difference between the ones I'd planted and the others.

Like that Mo !! :-D

I'm of the school of disliking large gardens with no wild patch, weeds, stinging nettles off er so much to wildlife, especially Butterflies.

The only problem is their expansion techniques are pretty good !!

I think its amazing, and still room for you to sit, we have a wild bit now, (the only bit the hens can't get to) )t'

On a serious note it is good to have a little bit of wilderness or grow something good for wildlife especially bees and butterflies )t'
