Is there such a thing as a lemonery??
This is a long term project, mostly cos it's going to cost a bit. I had in mind to create a miniature version of the very grand orangeries you get in stately homes. My hubby is handy and I don't mind wielding a trowel, but we will still have the cost of the materials.
I want to grow 2-3 lemons, maybe one orange and one grapefruit.
Does anyone grow lemons for cropping, not just as ornamentals?
Know which are the best varieties for the British weather? - especially here in Lancashire where we won't get as many daylight hours as you Southerners.
My idea is to see if I can start growing the lemons now, while they are small I can keep them in the greenhouse, squeezed in with everything else.
Then by the time they are quite big, we will (hopefully) have a nice new home for them.
But it would be great if anyone is having success with any varieties and can let me know what to go for.

I have never grown oranges or lemons in this country but given the right conditions can't see why they wouldn't grow.
I'm sure there are good web sites that can give you all the advice needed as to what plants to buy and good luck. )t'
