Not a good year down the Lane, but this is about a fifth of the Tomatoes.

Plenty of Chutneys and Sauces for the Freezer anyway !

Someone at dance club usually brings a few for the charity bring & buy. It's a bookstall most of the year but turns into a harvest festival - I take apples & damsons.

Lucky you Richard. Mine just won't ripen off. I've started to put a few in the window to ripen and they are even taking their time. So disappointing!

Hi

Put them in a drawer - usually works )t' )t'

Until I heard that I thought that dark and less air would do the opposite !

Anyone else do that or other tips for ripening?

Put banana skins in with them if in the greenhouse ,next to the plants.Banana skins in the draw with tomatoes brought in from outside may work though never tried it .

Any over ripe fruit produces ethylene gas (that sweet fruity smell) but an over ripe banana is said to be best )t' It's nature's way of ensuring all the fruit on a plant ripens at the same time so more likely to attract an animal to visit and go on to disperse the seed

I have got quite a few outside but they won`t ripen either. Have put some in drawer with bananas but nothing seems to be happening there. Bit disappointed as a good crop especially for first year.
