A good year for apples?

Post by fabindia »

Just caught a couple of minutes on BBC breakfast time this morning where they were saying apple growers were expecting a bumper crop this year.

Despite living in the colder North East, I must say our apples are looking good. Cider making time in a few weeks I expect.

A very good year for apples here, though the plums were thin.

My apples in the garden are only two years old so I removed almost all the fruit as soon as it appeared but our cookers on the allotment are covered, far more than we can use and store but I have used some, along with some delicious wild apples and some dessert apples from another allotment holder to make a big batch of Apple wine. Tasted lovely before I added the yeast too!

I am regretting not planting a couple of cider apples last year and don't really have space now. I'm reluctant to put any on the allotment too.
