summer harvest

Post by lancashire lass »

My allotment plot is finally getting into gear - its amazing how a little sunshine and warmth can make all the difference. The courgettes and squashes were so slow at establishing fruit that I thought I'd never get a single one. And now I have a glut! And sweetcorn, beans and peas! This is what all that hard work in winter and spring is about! )t'

Just hope the forecast bad weather doesn't ruin it!!

We tried the sweetcorn yesterday, but they weren't really ready, maybe when we come back from hols they will be.
Peas and beans (runner and broad) are keeping us busy, when I'm not clambering up the plum trees.
I need to get those picked before the end of the week, as I don't want it all rotting while we are enjoying a Folk Festival at the seaside.

Very happy with the output from my allotment. The one crop that was very slow but is now picking up is tomatoes. Mind you I am already thinking about next season's planting.
