The kind of food I like

Post by Meanqueen »

I don't enjoy being in the kitchen, I want my meals quick, the less cooking the better. This is typical of what I mostly eat. From the fridge to the plate, with quick ready cooked rice, and mushrooms.

I only use the gas hob, sometimes the grill, and the microwave for cooking. It's not worth me using the oven for one person. It keeps my utility bills low. I have a baskety thing in a pan on the hob for steaming vegetables. Oh how I love all vegetables, especially broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, broad beans, and spinach. )eat(

Looks lovely.
I do enjoy cooking, always have.
I get the Gousto boxes, saves me having to shop )grin2( . I get two meal boxes @ 6.24 per meal. I then can get three meals out of each of them. I freeze the extra one.
Then have a couple of box free weeks and eat from the freezer.
They very, very rarely involve the oven as they are vegetarian meals. Also it wastes 30/40 minutes of my day cooking.

I'm munching a stick of cheese - lunch is always cheese, usually with salad in summer, with apples in autumn. Today with toast and a ramekin of microwaved baked beans (saves waste and washing up, compared with a pan). Dinner is usually veg - I cook enough spuds & veg in the steamer for 3 meals, then microwave.

I enjoy cooking and just because I am on my own I refuse to give up. I still do a roast at least once a week. I do a lot of stir fries because I love the flavours you can get into them. I love my veg. and work my steamer very hard. I can do a roast chicken dinner in about 20 mins. I do cheat and use Aunt Bessies stuffing balls but still make some (packet) bread sauce. I use 2 chicken thighs, these go in the oven with the stuffing balls, a bacon roll. The veg go in the steamer, make some gravy and everything is ready at the same time in 20 mins. I make soups as well. Cauli and horseradish on the go at the moment.
