Rustic Christmas Presents

Post by Willow »

Christmas is looming and I thought a nice little prezzy for freinds / close neighbours would be a jar of home made home laid pickled eggs... bit of pretty gingham on the lid and a home made label and bobs your uncle!! and if that was accompanied by four home laid fresh eggs in some pretty packaging I reckon I'd be well chuffed as a recipient! Very traditional and tres Rustic.... )t' )c+

Great idea! Also Lemon/Orange Curd would be nice http://thefoody.com/preserves/orangeorlemoncurd.html

And homemade Mayonnaise, Herb (from your garden) Mayonnaise or Garlic Mayonnaise - Yum!

Or a Dundee Cake made with your own eggs. Recipe from St Delia  http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/traditional-dundee-cake,1218,RC.html

Hi everyone!

Thank goodness at this time of year we don't celebrate Christmas - far too commercial (not to do with religion). I will feel for all of you doing all that extra work!

Anna

ps I know it is different if there are children involved.

We celebrate by pretending to be out and avoiding all human contact for about a week.

Waitrose do an old fashioned Dandelion and Burdock pop in gorgeous little bottles. Cheap for the reuse of the bottles...

I have decorated bottles using material, lace and ribbons and they can turn an ordinary bottle into something much more classy. The black lace on a dark green bottle looked really good, and it so happened I had some in the sewing box so didn't cost me a penny!
