FREE RANGE STOCK
FREE RANGE STOCKWaited-roses are now selling guaranteed free range chicken stock, it seems that the message is getting out to the manufacturers that there is a market for such products. It isn’t their own brand and as I am quite rubbish I can’t remember the name but it’s quite obvious as the packet has got free range plastered all over it. Happy days

Good to know.
It is great that they are really hitting the free range thingy in the packaging. Hellmans make me smile, all the work that everyone had to go to, to get them to change. Now they say how wonderful they are LOL Wendy http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning
I have to admit that the first time I saw a Hellmans 'We now use free range eggs' poster at a bus stop I wanted to get a big marker pen and write 'bout bl**dy time' in big letters on it.
Gosh, I'm normally a quiet, reserved lady (honest!) http://www.freshstartforhens.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Helping to give ex-battery hens a fresh start! http://thevintagebelles.blogspot.co.uk/ http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Sorry to burst your bubble, s-s, but I'm guessing the hens that lay free fange eggs have to go somewhere after their alotted 54 weeks on earth. Some bright spark worked out that, even though they are no good for the table, they will still make stock.
STill, a better liife than most. Effie " -zere isn't much to do 'ere, unless you like cooking and chickens!"
It is a balance, you are never going to stop hens going to slaughter I am sorry to say.
They mostly have a better life than battery hens. But even the battery hens that are rescued are a fraction of those that are used. Wendy http://www.busheyk9.co.uk

No bubble bursting taking place; in past threads we have discussed the destiny of the free rangers and wondered why there wasn’t more free range chicken produce out there. Those chickens are now dead but have had an infinitely superior life than the battery ones. I did however wonder yesterday whilst investigating the product further whether or not the manufacturers are actually trying to make the world a better place or merely profiteering from the nations new found ethical conscience; at 84p for six cubes I think the later is probably the case as I can’t imagine that there is any more value in a dead free range hen as in a battery one. They contain powdered chicken as well for anyone who remembers the thread on stock cubes before. Bah Humbug
No morals Dave, just pure profit, as Hellmans is cashing in.

If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning I've not bought a supermarket chicken in 3 years.
I will only but if I know and usually seen where and how they lived. I probably only eat 3 or 4 a year now. Allotment http://taylorsplot.blogspot.com/
Orfy Blog (Food'n'Stuff) http://orfy.blogspot.com/ 1xMaran 1xRIR 6xWarrens 2xMuts Don't eat them at all from anywhere. I can't take the way they are slaughtered.

Sorry went off topic. The point being that we have to change what we can, when we can or else there is very little hope of ethic winning over financial gain for the elite few. Free range stock cubes and helmans mayo are a start, if all the big companies click on then it may just become the norm.
Bah Humbug
Absolutely SS.
This is a personal 'thing' of mine. I think it is good that the mayonaise people are pushing it, although a little ironic, because it will pull others into doing it. Wendy http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
