The last apple pie?

Post by fabindia »

I picked a few of the apples remaining on one of our trees this morning and made an apple pie. Admitted, they are past their best but still made a mighty fine pie. There are still a few apples left on the tree but most of them have been pecked by the birds, so this may be the last of last year's crop.

The consolation is that I have still to open the first bottle of cider made back in October with apples from the same tree, we will do that ceremoniously at Easter, and Spring is on its way, so the the apple blossom and a new crop will soon be in the making.

It sounds as though you have done very well from your apple tree. Amazing how anything made from your own endeavour tastes so much better. Glad you left a few apples for the birds, they do deserve their treats )t'
I'm looking forward to knowing how good your cider is. I've made wine but never cider and I have found a very bountiful apple tree in the field opposite my home, so maybe next year!
I am now a widow and live with my memories.
