Re: The first rhubarb of the season.Lovely one of my favourites. Mine was new in the garden this year so I will miss that first picking that would have come from the allotment.
I am now a widow and live with Beau my little rescue dog, Mistie cat and Rosie my last chicken.
Re: The first rhubarb of the season.I started picking mine, sparingly, quite early - early March I think,. Just 1 stick from each plant once a week, I have a row of them. Went away for a week over Easter and came back to find that they'd taken off and have been going strong since then.
Stewed Rhubarb, Rh crumble, Rh & apple (still got some in the porch - Granny Smith & Crispin. but they are deteriorating fast), Rh sponge. Dance caller. http://mo-dance-caller.blogspot.co.uk/p/what-i-do.html

Re: The first rhubarb of the season.
Are they your own apples? I managed to make mine last till February but till May would be impressive. Michael
Re: The first rhubarb of the season. They are. Not good enough to eat raw, but some still good enough to cook. ish.
Not as good flavour as earlier. Dance caller. http://mo-dance-caller.blogspot.co.uk/p/what-i-do.html

Re: The first rhubarb of the season. We are pulling a lot of rhubarb at present mainly it is being frozen but some has been turned into jam (rhubard & raspberry, rhubarb & blackberry soon to try and make rhubarb & ginger) we are thinking of trying to make some wine as well, does anyone have a simple recipe?
