The race is on ... apple crumbleThe race is on ... apple crumbleHere is the challenge; post here the first person to bake an apple crumble this year using their own apples. My mouth is watering already :-)

Re: The race is on ... apple crumbleSome of my windfalls are quite big. They'd be sharp, but a bit of sugar would sort that.
Come to think, I could have used some for the apple sauce on Sunday instead of defrosting far too much, which is waiting in the fridge to be used up. Now if you'd said Plum Crumble. I've had a stewed plum& 2 plum sponges for me and plum crumble for all the family so far this week. Just made 4 jars of jam, 1Kg of stewed plum cooling and awaiting freezing. That's the little Czar tree, more to pick, 2 trays picked and waiting for the green side to ripen. Victorias & greengages to come. Dance caller. http://mo-dance-caller.blogspot.co.uk/p/what-i-do.html

Actually, I spotted a few wild apples running into work this morning. I tried one and it was a bit sharp but I might pick a few and try them with a fair bit of sugar this weekend. I saw a few quite black blackberries as well. Autumn is a great time for foraging. Michael
Re: The race is on ... apple crumbleI claim my prize (did you say what the prize was?)
