cats and doors

Pat has a thing about doors. Any that are shut are cause for a fuss, even if, when you get up and open it he's not sure why he wanted to go through. If we go through a door, he goes with us.
He is a black cat, and this can get him into trouble (we don't always notice him slipping in).
Last night I came in late, and went out to get today's dinner from the freezer in the garage. Noticed him in the garden, but he didn't come up to bed with me; thought he'd decided to stay out.
This morning daughter and SiL were having a coffee after feeding their horses here 'where's Pat'. He usually helps them, if he's outside, or greets them when they come in. Nick remembered hearing him and thinking he was with Ruth, so went out to look. There he was, still in the garage. Probably scared any mice who thought they'd found a snug winter home!
